The Virus is Breathing New Life Into This

Weekly Roundup

Hey guys, Greg Silberman here for CIOs and Bowties, this is our weekly update
and our weekly roundup

DISCOVER

GIVE THE MARKET KUDOS!

Letӳ give the market kudos and give credit where credit is due. It is definitely
gone a lot higher than I expected it to and I assume some other people had
expected as well.

It basically triggered us off onto a short-term buying opportunity.

Some areas that we are interested in and one that we have been investing in for
some time is aerospace and defense. Some of the aerospace names have really
been roughed up so we are putting a small amount in there, thinking that they
will play catch up.

THE TRANSPORTS ARE BAD

Talking about the transports letӳ look at some statistics. Shipment value in the
U.S. in April was down a whooping 22.7%. This includes truck rail and air. Most
importantly that was the 17 th consecutive yearly month on month decline which is
why we have been saying there has been underlying weakness in the economy for
some time.

The type of shipping has also changed from business to business to more of
business to consumer type shipping.

CORONA’S EFFECT ON THE HOUSING MARKET

Interestingly enough, constituents also
changed in the housing market:

The first thing we noticed during the Corona period was a lot of people
yanking their inventory off the market;

So the people who remained sellers were those who thought prices would
go down further or those who really needed to sell;

There were still strong demand as mortgage rates came down even further;

And we did see a change in the type of property. So on the residential side,
people had previously preferred open plan but now they preferred more of
a segregated plan where they could go somewhere for peace and quiet, for
a bit of school work and some home office work.

Exposures to the major metropolitan cities decline as people preferred the
Nashvilleӳ and Charlotteӳ of the world. Smaller cities with a better cost of
living;

Home-Buying Demand Passes Pre-Coronavirus Levels; Inventory Down 24%

INDIA ON THE ASCENDENCY AT CHINA’S COST

Another area we noticed a shift in was around the ascendancy of India vs China,
specifically in fintech venture capital.

We saw India pick up quite a bit in Q1, they received $421 million in fintech vc
funding versus china which only received $178 million in funding. So China
dropped off precipitously, specifically in the fintech vc space, which is where we
think India can be very strong given its English language and computer-centric
education system.

ESPORTS AND ONLINE GAMING INVESTING BOOTCAMP

Finally, we are announcing our Investing in eSports and Online Gaming boot camp!

We have been investors in that space for some time and we have learnt quite a
lot and there is a lot more that we can do on the research side -but we have had a
lot of questions from subscribers about investing in the rapidly growing eSports industry.

Hence, we are going to do a boot camp and we are going to bring in a fund
manager who specializes in that space to educate us on the segments and the
valuations.

We are also bringing in a professional who has been very successful in roll-up
acquisitions in that space to listen to him and note what he looks for like
valuation metrics and different segments.

Also we will be discussing how he structures his transactions and most
importantly raises capital.

So I think you can get a lot from that boot camp, you will learn a bit about
financing of these companies and how they are growing and how to source them
as well.

That is our weekly summation and I hope you enjoyed it and make sure to come
back and see us soon.
